Principal Area of Educational Competence #3: Professional Competencies

Professional Competencies includes a demonstration of "competencies that enhance active professional engagement at the scholarly level (eg. presentation at an academic, peer-reviewed conference, participation in grant writing and submission, submission of an article to a peer reviewed journal, proposal review, management and reporting of a Tri-Council research grant)" (PhD Handbook, p. 18).

Key opportunities to increased my professional knowledge over the past 15 months included:
1) Participation on a UPEI HR Committee
2) Participation as a peer-reviewer on 2 occasions
3) Submission of 2 articles to peer-reviewed journals
4) Publication of articles within 3 practitioner journals including: Cognica, Careerwise Magazine, and the Graduate Student Engagement Corner of CERIC.
5) Acceptance of 3 peer-reviewed poster presentations for 3 national and regional conferences
For my Artifact, I have chosen to share the link to one of the articles that I had published in Cognica, a practitioner's journal for counsellors.
